untitled 2 by Jessica, see more modern Minted wedding invitations

At this very moment for a very limited time "Minted" is having a competition on who can create the most interesting wedding boards, around their wedding invite designs. I plan on making a few as this is right up my ally with not only my obsession of images but also my obsession of pinning them. If you decide you don't have tie to create your own board you can also choose board that have already been created. Whatever you do you should go and check it out at here http://www.minted.com/inspiration-boards-challenge.

Youeni Foodstore Darlinghurst

Youeni Foodstore Darlinghurst is a quaint and busy cafe at the end of S Dowling st (379 to be precise).  We stopped here for a coffee and snack and chose to share one of the fresh and seasonal sandwiches they have on the menu. The place was very busy (even though it was a wednesday) so we shared with two others on a small table. Youeni is built into a terrace house which has two rooms and lots of light. It has rustic element and forever changing bookshelves with interesting teas and trinkets. The food was fresh, homemade and delicious (just what I needed before we continued exploring the streets of sydney).

Freelensing Sydney

I have been working on a freelensing technique while walking around sydney city and it is much harder than it looks but I'm really enjoying the results. The technique works by removing the lens from your camera (usually a fixed lens. I've been using a 50) and while on live view you create an effect where only one side of your image is in focus giving the other side a really nice bokeh effect. My advice is to set a your exposure before shutting off your camera and removing the lens.

Its such a great effect that its worth all the effort.

Cinque

There is a little cafe in mona vale that I like to visit called Cinque ( 5 in Italian). They serve the best combination of avocado, tomato and feta on toast and if its not too early in the morning I like to grab a mango sorbet from their traditional gelato cart. This cafe has two big dining areas, both inside and out with a coffee bar and bench style tables. The decor is a little ode to Italy and as the Italians do, they make an exceptionally nice short black.

MadHouse Thursdays

Every now and then I get to attend MadHouse Thursdays at the Hamilton Station Hotel and take images of what goes down. It looks a little like this.

Kit + Zar

These are two of my very vivacious friends who happen to be dating and who happen to be creatives. Kit is and incredibly talented artist who walks around with charcoal on her clothes from drawing all the time and is so inspiring and bright it's blinding. On the other had Zar is a man who can't walk anywhere if he hasn't been fed first and has so many impersonations under his belt that I never  have time to stop laughing to catch my breath. He also happens to be a very talented DJ and can make a crowed dance up a storm. I'm so grateful that these two were brought into my life and that they continue to surprise me and be amazing friends.

Clouds

The texture of clouds facinate me. They looks so tactile and yet I could never touch them. Each one meaning something different.

DIY: Dot pillow case

I am a big fan of homewares on pintrest and just looking them up on the internet in general. I came across these sweet looking dot pillows and imediatly had to have them.

Step one: Find a material you like. I choose a small dot to break up the block colours that seem to already have made their way to my bed.
Measure out a pillow case you already own and don't forget to include extra for a cover flap and seem allowance( I do have to say that I just made up this pattern so its not the neatest of things)

I folded and ironed down the cover flap for my pillow and the hems to be a neat finish

The image above shows my hemming before sewing the sides together.

Sew up the sides folding the cover flap so it  will eventually sit inside the pillow, when you turn it inside out

My new black dot pillow against the saffron linen on that already sits on my bed.

The cover flap was a little difficult but the cases look fine in the end. You can also overlock the excess but I am not in possession of an overlocker so I didn't bother.

I'm really happy with the final product and because I chose cotton they are really nice to sleep on.

Good luck with your own pillow cases.
